'Wedgetail over Lossiemouth', watercolour, 59 x 37 cm.
The new Boeing E7 Wedgetail aircraft, which is currently undergoing testing and evaluation at RAF Lossiemouth, is shown climbing out of Lossiemouth above the Covesea Lighthouse towards the cloudbase over the Moray Firth. The runways of RAF Lossiemouth, just inland, can be seen behind. The aircraft will be operated by 8 Squadron, whose colours she wears and is the RAF's new replacement for the E3-D AWACS that the Sqn used to operate down at RAF Waddington. It's lovely to see this new shape in the sky and we look forward to the Squadron becoming operational at Lossiemouth in the future!
