'Covesea Lighthouse', watercolour, 26 x 17 cm.
'Covesea Lighthouse stands on a rocky promontory just a couple of miles west of Lossiemouth on the Moray Firth in northern Scotland. Built in 1846, it was manned until 1984. The views from the top are incredible, looking both across and up and down the Firth! Here we're looking back on the lighthouse from the beach in a view which includes both the caves in the rock and the second world war fortified lookout position which sits atop the cliff. The beach here is rocky around the promontory and great fun to explore the rockpools. It is also flat at west beach meaning that when the tide goes out, it goes a long way, but then comes in quickly!
