'King's College Chapel', watercolour approx 40 x 26 cm.
Sometimes in this business things go a little awry, and this painting was borne from one of those situations. I had a painting of Union Street in Aberdeen for sale on my website and also a couple of national art dealer sites. I sold it through the website and, literally 5 minutes later, it sold and was paid for through one of the national websites. Oops! I had to contact the second buyer through the dealer, offer my profuse apologies and offer to paint him something else! Luckily it all worked out for the best because (in addition to being very understanding), the buyer also wanted a painting of King's College Chapel.
The chapel is at the heart of King's College at Aberdeen University and I was lucky that my daughter was studying there - so it was easy to do a painting. This is an unusual view of the chapel; most views are from the quadrangle, which is around the other side. I loved doing the smoky snowscene looking into the weak but colourful sunshine!
I now only sell my paintings through our website!
The painting was sold by commission.
