'Saint's Return', watercolour, 52 x 34 cm.
Sometimes you just need to drop everything and do something else. That happened in the case of this painting which was commissioned, at very short notice, for an old member of 16 Squadron (The Saints), who flew Buccaneers many years ago. Unfortunately he was dying and his son wanted him to have a painting of the aircraft before he died. He had the painting only a few days later and loved it. He very sadly passed away a few days later. I'm glad it got there in time.
The painting has a colourful, misty feel to it. The Buccaneer is returning to RAF Bruggen in the early morning light and mist of the North German Plain.
The original was sold by commission.
