'Lochnagar'
This impressive mountain stands about 50 miles south-east of our home in the Grampian mountain range. It's name actually comes from the name of this small loch which sits perched in a north-facing corrie: 'Lochan na Gaire', which means 'little loch of the great sound' - I have no idea why! Here, the morning light is illuminating the snowy slopes and rocks of the corrie and summit, but the heather and grass show through at the lower levels above the cold lochan. The stag observes the still emptiness!
