What you get when you buy from Rob Wigham Watercolours

We want you to be delighted with your purchase from us. Here's one of Rob's original paintings - '51 Squadron Centenary 2016' - hanging in the Squadron, framed in the Squadron colours of green and red. We want everyone to feel this way about our originals and prints. So here's how we ensure only the best quality:

Originals

Rob's original watercolours are all, of course, hand-painted by him either on location or in the studio. They are painted using the best artist's professional quality paints available (predominately MaimeriBlu and Daniel Smith's professional ranges). These pigments are expensive, but they're worth it. The oldest paintings in the world - cave paintings - are watercolour, and these permanent pigments produce work which will be an heirloom if that is your wish. They are painted on 100% cotton rag watercolour paper which is not just acid-free: it has an alkali reserve to resist ageing. For those interested, Rob uses Saunders Waterford High White Rough almost exclusively. It is British-made at St Cuthbert's Mill and is of superlative quality. The work is supplied professionally mounted in Daler-Rowney conservation-grade mountboard to ensure that the mounting material matches the high quality of the work itself. Rob normally arranges for originals to be delivered by courier - we will let you know a full, delivered price when you contact us. For those customers who live in our area, we are always happy to welcome you for a pick-up from our studio to save delivery costs.

Prints

The prints are available in either open edition or limited edition runs; they are clearly marked on the site. Limited Edition prints are numbered and we do not produce any more prints of a particular image than the number shown - so your number is unique. Whatever the type, all our prints are professionally produced using pigment-based inks which are designed to remain light-fast for over a hundred years, when the work is framed behind glass or polycarbonate and hung out of direct sunlight. They are printed on matte archival paper and can be supplied either mounted in the same way as Rob's originals or rolled with acid-free tissue into a postal tube. This is our preferred method of internationally delivery for prints as it keeps your postage costs right down (regular post) and protects the print securely.

Tutorials

Rob provides one-on-one tutorials by arrangement in our studio. As usual, if you are interested, please just contact us. Rob can provide student grade watercolours, paper and brushes (in fact, everything you need!) at a rate of £25/hour. Alternatively, you can bring your own materials and brushes (stretched paper or gummed pads essential!), in which case the charge is £20/hour. Rob will tailor the sessions to your needs and wishes, and, most importantly, he'll do his best to make it enjoyable and fun as well as informative.
