'Pumas' Desert RV', watercolour, 58 x 37 cm.
Two RAF Pumas come in to land in the Afghan desert to rendezvous with a British Army Patrol for tactical re-supply. The Pumas are fitted with self-protection equipment - some of which can be seen fitted to the noses just above the landing light. The sand and dust whipped up by the downdraft from the main rotors is a constant hazard for helicopters in desert operations - both in terms of visibility and also wear and tear on the machines!
The original painting was sold privately.
