'Ties that Bind', watercolour, 72 x 50 cm.
The old harbour at Portsoy is the oldest harbour on the Moray Firth, and whilst it isn't as busy as it used to be, it is still in regular use. Here, the tide is rising and the flat calm water reflects the view above and glistens in the sun. These boats are exactly as I found them on a day just like this. The view is that from the bottom of the stone steps just out of view to our right, with the old pier heading out to our left with the Ship Inn beyond. This painting was completed as a commission and the large size was a great opportunity to go to town on the detail!
Original Painting Sold by Commission.
