'The Hopeman Hutties', watercolour, 26 x 17 cm.
Just to the east of Hopeman harbour on the Moray Firth lies this lovely little bay and, above it, a collection of brightly coloured beach huts - known locally as the 'hutties'. Just behind them is a small hillock of rough grass which allows this lovely view over the top of the huts towards the headland opposite; the large rock on the headland is known as Daisy Rock. Like many of the bays in this area, the flatness of the sand and clarity of the water produce almost tropical colours when the sun shines. The mountains of Sutherland are visible across the firth in the distance - a sight which is also very characteristic of this part of the coast!
The original painting is now sold.
