 So, there I was, walking my dog along my local beach, and I was once again taken by the urge! This is 'On Kingston Beach', watercolour, 34 x 16 cm., and it demonstrates why I often carry a rucksack even when I'm not going very far. It's my painting rucksack, which I keep stocked with stretched paper on board and all the other things I need to paint outdoors. My outdoor kit has grown in the last year to include the same tube paint range I use in the studio and masking fluid. I used to do without but a little masking fluid can help no end so I now carry it. I also invested in a sketching easel which makes life easier than holding the painting while painting it. The rest is the same - a brush holder made out of a cardboard tube with sellotape over the end and an old lemonade bottle full of water! I don't see the point in spending lots of money on fancy kit when these things do just as well. It was nice to get painting outdoors again, but next time I must remember to do it while the weather is nice and warm. I've been busy with other things for the last couple of weeks while the weather has been lovely - once it got cold again I went painting outside! I think it was worth it though, and I'm looking forward to doing lots more of it this year...

 Well, it's taken a lot of work and longer than I intended but I've finally produced my new, simpler, web site! My old site had grown since I started it almost two years ago, and it had grown organically, without much in the way of planning. In short, it had become a bit messy!
The new look is designed to make it much easier to get to the paintings. The look is also less 'busy' because there are now no words to go with the paintings, except for the title, the size and a price. I want to make the paintings speak for themselves! The overall look and feel is still quite familiar to anyone used to my 'old' site, and many of the gallery names have been kept on - some of them have grown into two galleries! Some of the galleries are more empty than they were - my aim has been to remove much of the older, sold work, to clear the way for the newer material, and those paintings which are still to come!
