This is my rendition of the Old Town Square in Prague, by night. The sky is black, and shimmering, against which the brightly lit city square is contrasted. The warm colours of the buildings produce a striking skyline, in which the clock tower and the illuminated church feature strongly. Below, the people wander through this romantic atmosphere, close and touching. I can thoroughly recommend the restaurant on the right!
This painting took a lot of planning and effort but I am so pleased that it has captured the romance of this incredibly beautiful place! I hope you like it!

So here I am home and settled again. I've got some good material from my trip away which I'm looking forward to turning into full-blown paintings but first I wanted to finish off this one: 'Over the Sea to Skye', watercolour, 10.5 x 7". It was started on location but then those threatening clouds did what they'd threatened to do and rained, so I put the painting away. It's been fun finishing it off! The view is from the Applecross Peninsula on Scotland's west coast, looking over the water to the Isle of Skye. The sun illuminates the distant beach and reflects strongly in the clear water of the little river as it meanders its way to the sea.
Hi again! Those who check my site regularly will be aware that I've been away on holiday in Europe. Well, I'm back, and fired with ideas for both paintings and for this site. This painting, of Stift Gottweib Monastery in Austria, was painted on site in a leafy glade in the Autumn sunshine. I think I have enough material to open a new gallery, which I think I'll just call 'Europe' - but I need to work up the new paintings first! For now, I'm back to business as usual and sooo looking forward to realising some of the paintings I have planned. I hope you like them as they come!
